Thuma Essential Bed Study
A product visualization and motion design study inspired by Thuma's Essential Bed and Mattress. This project focused on reverse-engineering the assembly process, recreating the joinery system, and producing a short assembly animation in Blender.

problem
I wanted to improve my product visualization and motion design skills while studying how furniture companies communicate assembly, craftsmanship, and product design. The challenge was recreating a recognizable product from publicly available assembly instructions while accurately representing the construction and assembly sequence.
solution
Using Thuma's assembly guide as reference, I modeled the Essential Bed and Mattress from scratch in Blender. Special attention was given to the frame joinery, slat system, and assembly workflow to create a believable product demonstration. The final deliverable included a series of product renders and a short assembly animation designed to communicate how the product comes together.
This project began as an exercise in product-focused CGI and motion design. Rather than simply recreating the exterior appearance of the bed, I wanted to understand how the product was engineered and assembled.
Using assembly documentation as my primary reference, I reconstructed the frame, support structure, slats, and mattress before developing materials and lighting for presentation renders. I then animated the assembly sequence to highlight the product's construction and showcase the simplicity of the design.
The goal was to practice the type of visualization commonly used in furniture marketing, product launches, and e-commerce content while strengthening my hard-surface modeling, material creation, and motion design workflow.
